Kawasaki rider Jonathan Rea won Race 1 at the Netherlands TT Circuit Assen and cemented his place as second most successful rider at the Dutch track. Second place was snatched by Chaz Davies who fought hard but couldn’t repeat last weeks performance at Aragón and the third place podium went to the MotoGP legend Nicky Hayden.
It was a frustrating afternoon for Tom Sykes though as he started from the pole and lead up until his mistake was quickly punished by Rea as he passed him. The Kawasaki rider lost the front at the beginning of turn 16, crashing out of the race but escaping unharmed.
The Dutchman Van der Mark was also in the battle for the lead but pushed too hard and went down leaving Davies and Rea fighting for the lead in a spectacular showcase of WorldSBK.
